    Partner pledge

From circular ambition to practical action

    Date: 07.07.2026

Everyone agrees that less waste is a good thing.

Yet across the built environment, thousands of tonnes of perfectly usable material are still discarded every year. Not because people don’t care, but because returning, storing and reusing materials isn’t always built into the way projects are delivered.

At Material Rescue, we believe circularity needs more than good intentions. It needs practical systems that make doing the right thing the easy thing and helps bridge the Say-Do gap.

Which is why we’ve launched the Material Rescue Partner Pledge.

“We are living in an age of waste. The world produces two billion tonnes of rubbish each year, seven times the weight of the world’s adult population. Only 15% of this waste is recycled.” –Teo Waste Age

The pledge is a commitment between Material Rescue and our fabrication and installation partners to keep valuable materials in circulation for longer.

Rather than treating offcuts and surplus materials as waste, partners commit to identifying, separating and returning reusable Surface Matter materials so they can be assessed, redistributed, repurposed or remanufactured through Material Rescue.

In return, we commit to recognising and promoting our partners as leaders in circular construction. From showcasing projects and partnerships across our website, events and social channels, to introducing pledged partners for future opportunities, we’re building a community that demonstrates what’s possible when businesses work together.

For Durat returns, we’ll also pay 50p per kilogram returned, or donate the value to one of our charity partners—helping create both environmental and social impact.

    A shared commitment

Beyond legal obligations, the pledge is a commitment to shared responsibility that includes:

    • Recovering at least 80% of reusable Surface Matter offcuts and surplus materials, increasing year-on-year
    • Working toward 100% reusable material recovery by 2030
    • Handling and returning materials in a way that maximises their value and reuse potential
    • Sharing knowledge, improving systems and making circularity easier across the supply chain

    Building better systems

Material Rescue is more than just takeback.

It’s about recognising the inherent potential in materials and creating practical opportunities to extend their life - whether that’s reclaiming offcuts, refreshing existing installations, recovering furniture or redistributing valuable assets.

The Partner Pledge is another step towards making circularity a normal part of every project rather than the exception.

Because real systems change happens when manufacturers, suppliers, fabricators, contractors and clients all pull in the same direction.

If you’re interested in becoming a Material Rescue Partner, we’d love to hear from you.
